Marianne m arianne Mettes expresses herself in many different forms of art. Marianne was born 2 June 1985 and largely educated at home, which allowed her to follow many different artistic directions. Marianne has composed songs since she was a little girl. She taught herself to play electric and acoustic guitar and at age 15, she had produced three albums. Recently, she has made two DVDs which she recorded, filmed, edited and produced herself and she is always working on more albums.

m arianne has completed a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (Visual Arts - Intermedia) at QUT which comprised both music and visual art with specialisations in song writing and video art. Marianne was the first person to study this unique course, which seemed perfectly designed for Marianne's creative interests and needs. Throughout her course she would combine elements of what she learnt from all areas at Uni and her life including: songwriting and composing, performing, dance and choreography, music technology, webdesign, painting, drawing, sculpting, fashion design and sewing, drama and acting, film making and editing, DVD production, promotion and collaboration.

m arianne is now focusing on her writing and recording new music and presenting her work to a wider audience. Her style consists of folk and roots, with a touch of jazz and blues, and her sets are always varied, containing "no boring bits!"

s he usually plays with her younger brother, Jonathan (12 years) on Djembe. She plays acoustic guitar, sings beautiful melodies and lyrics, while blowing sweet riffs on the harmonica, as well as keeping time on a thumping stompbox. She occasionally performs with more musicians, such as a mini-orchestra and a band (bass, lead guitar, keyboards and percussion). She has also performed and collaborated with dancers and musicians (percussion, vibraphone, cello, violin and flute). Sometimes she enhances a performance with visuals projected behind her of some of the film-clips she has made.

m arianne has done quite a bit of performing over the years at various events and venues, including the Woodford Folk Festival. Marianne has experience with many aspects of event organising, hiring venues, the many different ways of promoting events, the financial aspects, etc. This has also resulted in many media and industry contacts. One of the events Marianne organised, this June, was a singer/songwriter evening at The Zoo, in Fortitude Valley, for which Marianne invited upcoming singer/songwriters to participate. Marianne gave this event a lot of promotion, and as a result the media gave the event good publicity.
